Single shot rifle question
I have an NEF 223 single shot. This might be a stupid question...but is it possible to float the barrel on this gun?
There's a screw that runs through the forestock into a bracket on the barrel. If I eliminated that, what would hold the forestock on?
If I can't float the entire barrel, would it help at all to create a clearance gap from the bracket to the end of the barrel?
Just trying to improve groups a little.
Thanks in advance

I don't know if you can do anything about that screw...but by removing some material from the inside of the forearm, you might improve your groups as this helps the barrel to vibrate more freely by eliminating pressure points on the barrel...can't hurt to try it.

Pro-Line...I have a T/C Encore 25-06 with a 26" barrel and if I tighten the screws on the forend my groups expand by inches! I have to keep the screws just a little "snug" and the groups drop too under 1" at 100 with the same load...<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

RE: Single shot rifle question
Thanks PA. I'm going to remove a little wood from the inside of the forearm on mine. That combined with a rubber washer will help a lot. I'm considering getting the trigger worked on too.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

RE: Single shot rifle question
Cool, 3D. Hope it works out. Better for somebody else to be shooting it than for me to let it sit around.
I just bought a Ruger #1 22-250. Can't wait to shoot that thing. Gotta get some glass on top of it, then I'll be set.
