I have a Remington semi-auto 30.06 and was wondering what it might be worth.I'm having it reblued and the stock refinished.

Used Rem. semiautos ain't worth much, and if you refinish the stock and metal, it will be worth even less.....

I hunted with a remington 742 30-06 for a long time and I killed alot of deer with it. I just replaced it this year. My dad gave it to me and I think it is good for younger hunters because it has little recoil. So if it has meaning or if you plan to give it to your kids one day than yes I would have it refinished.

It's true that if one has an old gun refurbished by the factory that made it originally, the value is not lessened much, if at all. I guess it is only collector pieces that can be significantly reduced in value by anything that alters their originality. However, my experience has been that used Remington semiautos are not particulary valuable, unless in some rare chambering!!

How hard does it recoil?? I've never shot a high power, other than an SKS, in semiauto, but I know that if I could shoot one per trigger pull from my .30-06, it'd break my arm!!!!

To me my 742 never had any recoil course I had more padding than some. Bolt actions definitly kick more especially if they're real light.
