RE: Safety first (pics)
Excuse me, I am sorry you feel the need to respond in the way you did. No, I don't know anything about your land, but I do understand ballistics. Projectiles aren't influenced by nationalities btw.
I responded to your post because I feel this safety issue is often neglegted, I didn't say YOU are doing anything wrong in this, it was meant as some add-on info. I didn't post it to piss you off or anything. |

Little touchy, Hoop? LOL It looked to me as if your post said that the tree was 350yds beyond your target. Sorry...I guess that's not what you meant, and I misunderstood your post.
You titled your post, "Safety First". Just figgered that was trying to show that bullets go a long way after they go through a target. BTW...What's keeping those bullets from ricocheting off that tree and going elsewhere? Just "ASS"ing "U" a question from "ME". LOL |
RE: Safety first (pics)
I understand Hoop your fustration. You go on here and just try to liven up the place and show what can happen if a bad situation existed with an interesting post. Maybe it does, maybe it don't. And then get stupid posts telling you what you already know. I never understood this either when I see people post on forums. Just have to breath and realize there is alot of people that likes to echo what someone else has said. And remember its just the internet.

RE: Safety first (pics)
i tried something like that a few years back i just wanted to see what would happen so i shot a pine tree that looks to be the same size as your tree from 30yds. with a 50cal muzzle loader and 100gr. or pyrodex and it just about blew the tree in half i was truley amazed at what it did and it taught me a lesson too

RE: Safety first (pics)
Listen pal if your blasting trees behind your so-called berm or whatever then 2 things are the cause a) the berm doesn't exist b) it is not of sufficient size height or depth or both . Anyone that shoots firearms knows what destructive power they hold and if they don't maybe they need not own a firearm. You come on here and post pictures of trees that were hit behind your shooting area and we are supposed to believe that you have something built to prevent this. BTW a local shooting range closed down because neighbors were complaining about bullets whining over their homes. There was no ass-umption here the berms were not high enough and the guy who owned it never repaired them as a matter of fact the only thing separating the range from a busy bifurcated highway was a small patch of trees, surprised someones car was never picked off.. In your case I would put in a berm or fix whatever "Berm" you have because its not working.

RE: Safety first (pics)
BTW please post your hunting plans in advance here so I can be at least 1 state away when you start wailing away with your 300. Thanks

RE: Safety first (pics)
Come on oldelk, the guy just came on here posting an interesting post. I don't think he asked for everyone to put on there range officers hat. Or for a dad. Shooting is dangerous. Getting in my car is dangerous. You have to admit, people do alot of assuming on this board. They assume things about a shooter. They assume they are better shot. Or assume they have more experience than the original poster. Sooner or later, you figure out who knows something. Things have been slow in this page. I welcome pictures of explosions and things of interest as it pertains to guns.
