virginia7 is on the money ! only thing is the youth is only offered in 243 and 308 i believe , no long actions.
you could buy a 700 adl in 260 or 7mm-08 and then pick up a youth stock on ebay and have the same thing or if you have a 700 short action you can find a youth stock and have it also.

The link i posted above is for a model that is dual pillar bedded. There are some other models that come i the 7mm/08 cartridge but are not pillar bedded. They could be plenty accurate also, and a great deal. The scopes in the packages are not top notch, but only a few rungs down the ladder....and could serve well for a few seasons until relegated to a decent .22 rifle.

By all means, have her try a .270 Win. with 130-grain bullets! it is fine up close, and great for long ranges! it also has pretty light recoil. If she can stand that .308, she'll have no problems with a .270!

remington makes a 700 for youth/female. i got girlfriend one in the 308 caliber. she is only 5ft 2 in, 86 lbs and has not problem with it. as far as recoil, she uses a shoulder pad with a few kotex stuck behind it.

Savage 110, or whatever Savage bolt they chamber in 260 Rem. Cut the stock if need be, and she's all set.

I have a Model 10 GY (I think), its a .308 youth model. Really nice for smaller framed folks, and even for me with a heavy jacket on. That rifle shoots great, cost 300 new, a few years back.

I found Rem 700 in 7mm-08 but it has one of those stupid internal locks on the bolt. has anyone used one of these rifles. I typically don't like additional safety features that are there to replace gun handling skills. I have that sinking feeling that as soon as you see a huge buck that internal lock is going to decide to lock up from a little bump it took earlier in the day. What are your experiences with these guns and locks? Thanx

I would try a REM model 7 youth in 7-08 or a savage youth in 308 or 7-08 .Savage rifles are lower price not cheap , I have 2 and they shoot good ,the stocks are plain birch , that lowers the price. DU NRA life

fungunnin if i was to find myself having to have one of these klintoon keyed guns i would change that little annoying plastic bump over to a original shroud. you can find them on ebay or brownells . maybe you could just talk to your gunsmith. i am sure they are nothing more than a cosmetic eyesore but for me i would spend a little extra to get rid of it.
