I would choose the .300 wm it is a very good round for your stated purpose. As someone else said the .300wsm is a good one also. I to would trow a 45/70 in there some where.

Pick the one you're most comfortable or close your eyes and pick one. They're all good choices and will do the job provided you match proper bullet for the game you're going after and shoot selection.
I'm sure shooter can name another 20 different preferences ,but the ones you list any are good.

110 grain to 220 grains... enough said....show me how high and low a 300 and 7 mag can go...if you want a barrel burner go ahead and use a 110 grainer for a 300 mag..lol

My last trip to MT, sighting in my .270 before the hunt, the guide told me that it was the most popular chambering in that area. But I don't think you could g wrong with any of the cartridges you mentioned, plus a few more.

The 30-06 is the best all around caliber ever. It has the largest bullet variety available on the market and ammo can be found in any small hunting shop in the country. It can kill anything on the planet.

I'd say it's a toss up between the .30-06 and the .280 Remington.

I would have to say any of the various .30 calibers on up to the .300 Weatherby. Either of these with quality 165 to 180 grain bullets will do fine for all game that can be hunted in the Western states.

Well, since the .300 WinMag use the exact same bullets as the .30-06, but pushes them even faster, I would say the .300 would be my choice for the uses you have listed. You can always handload it to reduced velocity for practice, and if you ever go after the big bears it definitely outshines all the others.
However, I love my old Wincester Model 70 '06.

IMHO, If you're a handloader, the 7mmMag. If not, the 300 WM. If I were to only have 1 rifle, the 7mmMag I think is tough to beat. Flat shooting, hard hitting, and more pleasent to shoot than the 30s. Just my opinion.
