RE: Bore cleaners ???
Hoppee No. 9 works well. If you need to get the copper out use Barnes CR-10 but wipe the the barrel quickly. Wipe it off stainless steel even faster!

RE: Bore cleaners ???
semi, a good bronze brush with a brass core isn't going to hurt anything as long as you clean from the chamber end and use a bore guide. I also recommend a good rod like a Bore Tech. Practically every custom barrel maker recommends using a bronze brush, so I figure they can't be all bad. I have found that you just can't get all the fouling out if don't use a brush to scrub the bore and a nylon brush just isn't stiff enough in my experience.

RE: Bore cleaners ???
The only bore cleaners I use are Shooters Choice, JB's, and CR-10. Good luck.

RE: Bore cleaners ???
I only use Hoppes #9 for all of my guns. I just sold my Mosin-Nagant, but I would use Sweet's 7.62 in it when I shot corrosive ammo. For modern ammo, Hoppes will get the job done with regular cleaning.

RE: Bore cleaners ???
Just when I think my bore is clean I rub JB Bore paste on a patch and wrap it around a brass jag, WHOA what an eye opener. A one piece cleaning rod, coated if you can, is a must for this practice.

RE: Bore cleaners ???
I use sweets for general cleaning and cr-10 for really stubborn copper deposits.Hoppes #9 is basically useless for removing copper fouling.

cwhitenton,
The black crud that comes off with J-B's is not necessarily indicative of a dirty bore. Those J-B patches will ALWAYS come out black, no matter how clean the bore is..........it's the nature of the beast with a metal polish like J-Bs. |
