POLE: Deffective NEW! Firearms from.....
the BIG GUN MAKERS. Please name make, model, year you bought it and from where you bought it. MUST HAVE BEEEN A NEW GUN PLEASE!
Try to keep this to the big name makers:Winchester, Remington, Ruger, Browning, S&W, Colt, Savage, Marlin, Mosseberg etc.,. I hope this dosen't help the anti's, but if we let gun quality slip from a standpoint of realibilty to one of questionable safety, that will help the other side. Please Note:I don't want to hear about guns bought just at Wal Mart, any lemon from any place is welcome. Edited by - BigEd on 02/21/2002 02:21:55 Edited by - BigEd on 02/22/2002 19:48:38 |

I bought my 700ADL 7mm from Wally World. Although I have yet to shoot it, I got it brandy new for $200. No way I was passing it up. Got my Ruger Stainless/Synthetic .270 the same day for $250. I love this gun.

I don't know if its a serious design flaw or I had and exceptional rifle but rither way, I was happy to get rid of my rem 597 jam-o-matic.

Bought a Rem 597 auto 22. Like Briman said, it was a jammer. I couldn't empty the gun without a jam, even shooting slowly. I even tried different types of shells.

Well, I doubt Cobray qualifies as even an afterthought in 'gun names', but an M11/9 pistol I bought back in 1986 broke it's internal hammer within the first 100-150 rounds fired. Upon it's disassembly, the piece fell out on the floor, having snapped the hammer in half, right in the middle.
Was repaired under warranty, but still, the internal parts were of simple non-hardened castings/pot metal assortments. Not a gun I'd want to depend on, despite it's 36 round capacity. A fun plinker though! |

Do you really think this post is a good idea?

A Ruger Super Redhawk....It shot well but the Ruger Rings were eating up the frame mounting rail. Ruger exchanged this gun with a new one.The gun functioned perfectly except for the ring problem. It was bought through a local dealer.Once I bought a S&W 29 with a 6 1/2" BBL. The front sight was crooked. S&W replaced it.There will be defects from time to time no matter who the Mfg is.Ruger Redhawk

1998, Mossberg 835 from Walmart. Misfired about 30% of the time, right out of the box. 2000, Remington 597, from Walmart. Jammed constantly, wouldn't shoot a 3" group at 25 yards. Walmart won't give refunds or exchanges on defective firearms, by the way. I don't know if it was coincidence, but I'll be damned if I ever buy another gun from Walmart...
