when you die?

Saw this posted on another board, thought it make for interesting ideas.


For me, I want mine melted down to create the urn for my ashes, then have it mounted on a treestand out in the woods!

Spending eternity over a deer trail, what could be better than that? (until some dork builds a condo there!) [:@] But imagine their shock if they climb onto that stand! LOL

I will want them left to someone who will shoot them and care for them. I want them to be appreciated and used. One of my boys has the bug...the other hasn't picked it up yet. I've got some nephews and brothers and sisters that may get 1 or 2 as well.

They will go to family. Sons and nieces and nephews. Some will no doubt be sold. I have kept a record on al my firearms, listing purchase price, where bought, when bought, etc. Also lists quirks about the firearm/ammunition, and an approximate value that I try to update at least every two years. I've seen (and bought) many a gun over the years that was part of an estate sale where the seller had no idea of values. Had a friend show me a minty Model 42 Winchester he bought at a garage sale for $75, because "it was just a cheap little old .410". Don't want that to happen to my guns!

Seriously: Two of my closest friends and I have a pact that if something should happen to one, the other two or the one left will help sell the guns. Our wives know about it also. If my son or grandsons have one or two that they would take care of, they can have them.

I have a sealed envolope in my gun safe with a list of my guns and who they go to. Everyone on the list except my grandaughter has hunted with me.They are to use my guns not look at them.Each gun will be given to an individual for a reason.Either a particular hunt that involved them or a desire to have that particular gun.

The whole works will be split between my two boys, with one exception....

If either of them picks up a wife that is anti-gun/won't allow a gun in the house, then the whole works goes to the other one. They both know this.

Mine will be split up between my son and daughter and likley my grandkids as well.

Sure hope that wouldn't happen.:( Hopefully they will know better.;)
