when you die?

Saw this posted on another board, thought it make for interesting ideas.


For me, I want mine melted down to create the urn for my ashes, then have it mounted on a treestand out in the woods!

Spending eternity over a deer trail, what could be better than that? (until some dork builds a condo there!) [:@] But imagine their shock if they climb onto that stand! LOL

I will want them left to someone who will shoot them and care for them. I want them to be appreciated and used. One of my boys has the bug...the other hasn't picked it up yet. I've got some nephews and brothers and sisters that may get 1 or 2 as well.

They will go to family. Sons and nieces and nephews. Some will no doubt be sold. I have kept a record on al my firearms, listing purchase price, where bought, when bought, etc. Also lists quirks about the firearm/ammunition, and an approximate value that I try to update at least every two years. I've seen (and bought) many a gun over the years that was part of an estate sale where the seller had no idea of values. Had a friend show me a minty Model 42 Winchester he bought at a garage sale for $75, because "it was just a cheap little old .410". Don't want that to happen to my guns!

Seriously: Two of my closest friends and I have a pact that if something should happen to one, the other two or the one left will help sell the guns. Our wives know about it also. If my son or grandsons have one or two that they would take care of, they can have them.

I have a sealed envolope in my gun safe with a list of my guns and who they go to. Everyone on the list except my grandaughter has hunted with me.They are to use my guns not look at them.Each gun will be given to an individual for a reason.Either a particular hunt that involved them or a desire to have that particular gun.

The whole works will be split between my two boys, with one exception....

If either of them picks up a wife that is anti-gun/won't allow a gun in the house, then the whole works goes to the other one. They both know this.

Mine will be split up between my son and daughter and likley my grandkids as well.

Sure hope that wouldn't happen.:( Hopefully they will know better.;)

I'm giving mine to my son. I'll have to give him a few at a time, maybe if I have another kid, they will be able to pick which ones they want. I'll probably give mos of them away before I die, Most of my rifles are iron sighted, and I don't think they will much use to me 30 years from now, and I might live another 50 or 60 years. Some of them will probably be worth some serious money by then, and I'd like some who appreciates them to have them, rather than my wife selling them off to some unscrupulous collector for pennies on the dollar.

I've already started by giving my son a pre64 model 70. The only trouble with that is that it gave me the bug to buy more guns, crazy isn't it. The rest of my holdings will go to my son and grandkids.

My two sons have allready decided which guns they are going to get. Nothing like me telling them which guns that would be left to them.

I'd prefer to leave them to a gun enthusiast in the family. If there are no suitable heirs, then I'll have my next of kin sell them (at prices I've determined ahead of time). My paternal great grandfather died in the 60's with an original 1911 (not A1) in his collection. My grandma sold it to a pawnbroker for $20. :(

Nothing like passing them along to your kids. My son and daughter will split them up and shoot the heck out of 'em. Hopefully they'll live close enough to use the same skinnin' tree.

Interesting question. At this point I just hope that my wife doesn't use one on me when deer season rolls around! Haden't got much farther than that......

being 17 i guess dad will get them......and id be happy to see him them....he bought me all but 2.....the mauser and the tc hawken...both are my favorites....dad would love to have the mauser...and hed probably hang the hawken on the wall being i did alot of serious work to it....now its a mauser06/tc custom.....he gave me all my other guns...i bought them 2....later down the line ill pass them down to my kids....if i have kids.....i could sold my 20 ga single shot for 50 bucks...dad said i could to buy a new turkey gun....but it was my first gun....i dont want to.....it will be my kids first gun.....then my 22.....i cant wait to have kids......it will be great to pass it on......everything my dad passed to me...and my guns and everything......my time will come.......im growing up too quickly.....i remember when my uncle got his liscense and that was about 8 years ago....i was wishing i could drive...now i do......man time flys...

When I die, I plan to do nothing with my guns. My survivors will, no doubt, do something with them, however! (I have heard that you can't really take them with you......)

hopefully ill have kids to leave them to one day but for now ill be burried with them and ill be wearing camo not a suit i wanna be comfortable for eternity and a suit aint gunna cut it

Who knows? Once I'm gone it won't matter.
I have requested to be buried with one handgun.That way if Hell breaks loose I'll be able to shoot my way out.
