RE: got a couple ?s
If you hunt varmints more than deer, go with the 243. If you hunt deer more than varmints, go with the 25-06.

RE: got a couple ?s
thanks guys...
i think i might be able to get a .22 hornet that i could probably use for varmits. if i get that then i will keep my .270 for deer. otherwise ii'm not sure what i will do yet. but thanks again for your advice...it will help a lot. Logan |
RE: got a couple ?s
I used to use the 110 Sierra in the .270 for varmints, loaded to about 3300 feet. It was real dynamite on porcupines!! If you have a .270, keep it. Maybe the .223 Rem. added to you .270, would give you what you need for small varmints, and keep the .270 for larger stuff.

RE: got a couple ?s
I would go with a 243 win or 6mm rem.

RE: got a couple ?s
ruger-redhawk is right, you should check your states regulations to see what the minimum caliber is, as for a clean kill, that's done by proper shot placement not caliber size. but a .243/6mm or a .25 caliber should work fine with properly placing your shot.

RE: got a couple ?s
If Rem still makes the 55 gr 06 bullet you could go that route. The .243 would work too.
