u don't need a magnum to be accurate.... 270,280,30-06 are all good accurate rifles... i guess the 7mmO8,25-06, and 260 aren't bad either....
if u want magnum then the 300 or 7mm would work good also.

Well you are developing some pretty high pressures to get those velocities out of a 26" barrel. It can be done but you must push the limits to do it.I have seen sendero's that won't get that velocity out of 7mmstw's without showing pressure signs.

hunt4fun1-The shooter is a big part of accuracy but no-one is going to shoot 1" groups with 3" gun/load combination. You might fluke one but you are not going to do it on a regular basis.

Without a pressure gauge i couldnt tell.No flat primers or head expansion. Its safe in my gun and i wouldnt post the load.It is only 1 grain over max in nosler manual.I think i got a good barrel.Shoots anything.

hunt4fun1-It means you don't have a 3" gun/load combo. What I am trying to get across is that even the best shooter alive can't make a poor rifle shoot anywhere near as good as an accurate rifle. If that was the case and only the shooter mattered, target shooters wouldn't waste their money having super accurate rifles built and their time developing loads for them.By the way you are the only one I know who owns a tact driver.

Stubblejumper,
I almost agree....I'll tell you why.
The 7mm I bought, I got from Walmart. It is a Winchester 70 and came with a Simmons 3x9 scope and I paid $310 for the whole set up.
I got it 2 years ago.
2 months ago, I bought a Tikka Whitetail Sporter in .22-250 and put a Weaver Grand Slam scope on it and still fight with my wife about the money I spent on the damn thing.
I shoot better groups with the Winchester.
That's all I'm sayin.
