RE: .270 or 22-250
Pick the .270 ... the 22-250 for deer is a little on the small side. You might want to look at the .243 if you are only want one rifle. The .243 has a wide range of loads to buy and is not a bad little deer rifle.

RE: .270 or 22-250
A 90 grain bullet from a .270 is a sight to behold when it hits something solid. A 270 will almost do it all.....and you can use light enough bullets to varmint.....just dont try to save the pelts...lol.

Definetly the .270. It will handle anything from moose down to chucks and do it well. It is definetly one of the most versatile catridges made.

Another vote for the 270. I wouldn't use a 22-250 on deer.

RE: .270 or 22-250
If those are your only two choices, go with the 270. But, like downwind said, the 243 may be the best round to fit the bill. The 22-250 will kill deer, but I think that we owe too much respect to the deer to use a "marginal" caliber. just my .02

RE: .270 or 22-250
lets say i did go with the .243 what would be a good overall bullet weight for deer down to varmits?

RE: .270 or 22-250
Anything from the 80 to 100 grainers will do nicely.

RE: .270 or 22-250
Out of the two you mentioned, 270 definetly. A 243 would be a good choice also.
