I can't think of a bullet that would perform better in this respect than ballistic tips.

I've hunted with ballistic tips exclusively when gun hunting the last 6 years. I hunt in very thick woods as well as green fields and have yet to lose a deer with them. As a matter of fact I have yet to recover a bullet. The bullets did massive damage to heart and lungs and on neck shots it drops em like a rock. I load them for .270, .308 and 30-30. The 30-30 is shot out of a 16" contender. I have hit shoulder bone and had the bullet blow out both shoulders and the heart lung shot destroys tissue. It is a good performing bullet for deer. I don't use this bullet for elk or bear because it opens too fast. For heavier animals I use Nosler Partitions. I've had good luck and good accuracy with these bullets, so if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I have taken over 30 animals with ballistic tips with no animals lost and none travelling 50 yards after being hit.I use lung shots a lot of which do not hit bone and the bullets work fine. It's convenient for people to blame bullet failure for lost animals when it is their shooting that is at fault.

If you shoot it, it will die. Notice I didn't say shoot at it. Stubblejumper is right, lots of folks blame bullet performance for missed shot and lost game instead of admiting to lack of ability. Lack of ability is most often lack of practice. How many rounds do you think the average Joe fires in a year? About 5 to make sure the rifle is on the paper.

Greets,
You want something that explodes on impact.. Well, I have seen two hits from the ballistictip you dont want, one a bad hit at a long range, hit the hip bone shattered it, both sides. The other, at less than 20 yards, hit the locker, figuring it hit a rib, who knows, you aim for the chest cavity just behind the shoulder and you going to hit rib.
That one blew apart everything inside the chest, 'cept the heart, the deer staggered about 10 feet and dropped over deadder than a doornail!
You want explosive the BT is the round.
Just my uneducated opinion!

shoot a 30-06 here. Have only used a 165 grain boat tail. Not bullet. Haven't missed with it and the farthest one ran was around 100 yrds. Aim for the boiler room and have no problems
