RE: Change in leupold warranty
The new warranty policy disappeared from the website just a very short time ago. Many people complained today and apparently leupold has reacted. Now we have to see if they are going to drop this new policy altogether or just re word it.

Yeah, I'd retract it to. If their scopes are as good as they and their past reputation claims then why change the warranty in the first place. That's the main reason I hear most folks forking out the big bucks for their scopes. Their warranty is suppose to be the "best in the business" right?
Who knows, maybe things are a changin there at Leupold.

SJ as usual is trying to stir the pot...doesn't like Leupolds so he jumps on them for doing business like everyone else does. Didn't hear a word out of him about Zeiss socalled Product registration whereby their warranty is only in effect if purchased thru a Zeiss authorized dealer.

RE: Change in leupold warranty
There is pretty much no way that Leupold can track all the scopes by serial numbers. Yes they can with the ones that are bought directly from the Manufacturer. We buy all of our items through a distributor, who does not keep track of the serial numbers that are purchased thru the distributor. So if I buy a scope from them, Leupold has no idea that I am the one that bought it. Things will change back to the way there where or I think Leupold is going to change it to the original owner only. Time will tell.

RE: Change in leupold warranty
Here is what I got back from Leupold over this whole thing. Kinda encouraging.
Mark,
There is considerable misinformation on the internet about this issue.
It is not our intention to reduce warranty coverage on any scope you
own, no matter how long you have had it or from whom you received it. The
warranty remains in effect for any optics you sell or purchuse
secondhand. Please disregard any information to the contrary.

RE: Change in leupold warranty
Just e-mailed Leupold and asked this question. If I bought a new still in the box Leupold scope from e-bay, would the warranty still be good? Received a response from Sharon Stephen (Leupold), saying the warranty is good. They must have gotten much negative feedback and changed the policy.Good deals on the new VXII and VXIII scopes on ebay. Good luck
