I'll be purchassing a new rifle shortly and the Ruger and Tikka are both in my price range. Getting it in 300Win. Price wise, they are less than $5 apart. Which is the better gun? I don't want to fork out that king of $$ and be disappointed in a couple of years(Like I am with my 710).

While I have never owned a Ruger my friend does and the trigger is horrible. The Tikka is adjustable from 2-4 lbs, guaranteed out of the box accuracy (3 shot 1 inch group), comes free floated, much smoother action and as BarnesX.308 stated they're made by Sako. Matter of fact they share the same barrel as the Sako rifles.

I was in the same boat till this morning and went with the Tikka t3 Lite in a 270 wsm. From the majority of posts I have read and from the articles I have read you can't go wrong with Tikka. I was concerned with plastic trigger guard till I saw that Glock handguns are made of the same stuff and are one of the toughest guns out there. They are also very accurate out of the box and look great too. Go with the Tikka!!!

My biggest problem with choosing the Tikka is I'm having trouble finding the one I want. I want the stainless in 300 win mag. The local dealers all seem to bought into the short mag craze and have them in the blue but not the stainless.
I may have to have them order it for me, assuming they can get it.
