RE: Savage Model 111G (270 Win.)
Hi gman1969,
I have a Savage 111 (though without running to the "cabinet" I don't recall if it's an F, a G, or which specifically). It's chambered for .30-06, has the removable box magazine, and came packaged with a Simmons 3X9 scope. That scope got "yanked" and put on a Savage .17HMR, where it is performing quite well. The replacement scope was a Nikon 3X9 Buckmaster that I picked up for $179. or $189., and it has worked very well.
I wasn't even looking for a "new rifle" when I stumbled on this one. It was an end of season sale on the package rifles in one of the "discount stores".....at a price I couldn't pass up. The rifle shoots well, right out of the box.....though the trigger could be improved. (This year I believe Savage is selling all of its centerfires with the Accutrigger.....a big improvement.) I haven't done extensive work with this rifle yet....but it looks promising.
I am very happy with the value for my money, and would not hesitate to recommend it! Good luck!
P.S. It's a little on the "ugly side"....but I could care less!

I would say yes. I have a .270 with the AccuTrigger and it is a VERY good trigger. I breaks like glass and has no creep or travel.
