About c custom barrels for SAVAGE 220
This is stupid question.
Nice to meet you all. I am desperately looking for a custom barrel for my savage220.(other than a tur hunt) In Japan, hunters with less than 10 years experience cannot legally own a rifle. So what do I do? Young hunters use a "SLUG GUN with the rifling crudely shaved halfway down the barrel"! But the accuracy is terrible. Have you ever seen a highly accurate custom barrel with rifling on only half of the barrel? I'm trying to get an accurate half rifle barrel. |
What do you do? Move!

Nice to meet you Oldtimr !
Thanks for your comment. My job is a forest ranger. (Nature Conservation) I've been a hunter for 6 years.... |
It's my understanding that the Sav220 is already fitted with a very fine shooting 20 gauge slug barrel. Nor have I ever heard of a Savage barrel only having half it's barrel length rifled.

I agree very much. Savage220 is fitted with a very good slug barrel. However, Sav220s imported to Japan have half of their rifling shaved off. In a factory with poor accuracy in Japan. This is very silly. I want an accurate half-life ring barrel anyway:(! |
Nice to meet you Ridge Runner.
Thanks for your comment!! I've never heard of this website before! I'll inquire if I can order a 20GA SLUG barrel ASAP! Thank you so much :s1: :s1: |

Mamiya cat welcome to the forum.
Can you not purchase a rifled slug barrel for a shotgun. They shoot a shotgun slug that has a sabot and the accuracy is pretty decent for approx 100 yds.. |

I also used a Rem870 20GA Japanese half rifle barrel. However, the accuracy was 6 to 8 inches at 100 yards...:( Could be a problem with Japanese barrel machining techniques... Is it easier to find a custom barrel on a Rem870 than on a SAV220? |
It seems like you're saying that they grind half the rifling out for some reason
|
Japan has some pretty silly gun laws. if you import an accurate gun, they take it and make it inaccurate! I think there are more murders with knives than guns.

You are absolutely right ... I wish they would have at least kept 5/6 or 3/4 of the rifling :s7: I'm all for knife control :p |

Thanks for your comment. By Japanese law, rifled barrels are cut down to half a mess. So I am looking for a precision custom half rifled barrel. |
