Default 760 Gamemaster

Hi all,
I am looking to purchase a used Rem. 760 Gamemaster, it has some light rust on the receiver
and possibly the barrel. The numbers/letters on the left side of the barrel are 0 or a D followed by
a DB 44. Serial # 259xxx. I was wondering on a value if nothing else is wrong.
Thanks, Bill
Also what would be best to clean up the light rust on receiver and barrel

Five 760's sold Saturday at a Minnesota auction for an average of $553.
All were scoped and a couple were in below average condition.
The price range was $420 to $850.

This really depends on where you are and what it shoots.. And what platform is selling it.

Online auctions have been going very high lately.

Used rack in central Ohio? I got one for $325 not long ago. Same rifle went for $1,100 on an online auction not long after.

The .300 savages (my favorite in the 760) have been going high lately.

I hadI one a long time ago. It was a carbine in 308. It would bring top dollar today. Like Jake said, it depends on configuration, chambering and condition. They are a popular rife here in PA with the 30-06 the most common as is the 308 and 243. Average price is now $400-$500 I believe. They are really pretty accurate but also a bit on the heavy side.
I'd bet that rust you're talking about can be removed with some oil on some 00 steel wool.

Worthless information about the past auction that I mentioned earlier.
Four were 30-06's and one was chambered in .300 Savage/
All rifles were topped with 3x9 scopes, two had cracked stocks and one sold sold for twice price of some of the others.

300 Savage, Simmons, good shape, $420
30-06, Bushnell, crack in stock, $430
30-06, Bushnell, missing magazine, crack in stock, $491
30-06, Redfield, good shape, $575
30-06, Nikon, good shape, $850. Two guys really wanted this one.
