Default Hog Gun Recommendation

Looking for a recommendation for a Hog Gun. Wife and I are not hunters, but we are eager to eradicate the hogs that we have on our property in NE Texas.
Of the property we own, about 15 acres is a mixed pine/hardwood forest, typical for this part of the state.

We have had a 12ga shotgun since we bought the place here 3 yrs ago. She grew up around guns, I did not. But we don't have any objection to them. Trying not to break the budget either . . .

Someone pointed me towards the Ruger American Ranch series. In 450 Bushmaster seems like it might take care of my hogs. This gun or something at this price point ($5-$600) would allow me to end up at $1K all in.

I know - not a lot of specifics. But I appreciate the advise.

450 will work fine, I have killed a lot of hogs with my 45-70, also killed a bunch with a .308.

IF I WANTED A purpose built/dedicated

RIFLE JUST TO ELIMINATE HOGS I'D GO THIS ROUTE AS ITS VERY EFFECTIVE AND AMM0S CHEAPER THAN MOST.
its what I grabbed, on most hog hunts and its always proven to work very effectively. youll want to pick up a couple 5 cartridge AK mags if you hunt florida

if you own a AR15 a 350 legend upper might be a very effective option yeah a 223 works ok,
but the larger bore options like a 7.62/39, 350 legend, 30/30 or 44 mag provide a bit quicker kills and better & shorter blood trails in the cases where hogs don't drop almost instantly at the shot impact!

Just about any deer rifle off the rack from a box store would do. Something like a Savage Axis with a scope in 308 or 30-06.

You're in it for around $400 dollars, ammo and all..

I killed hundreds of hogs East of Nacogdoches for many years with 223 and 22-350. Going after pigs today, I take 6.8 SPC or 223.
