    Nobody pretended anything? He knew exactly what you meant- that's how he corrected it. If he didn't know what you meant he couldn't have corrected it.

    I’m with Homer’s Brother and Jake - calling a floorplate a “baseplate” is far enough off the mark, it bears correction, and doing so isn’t pedantic.
