Default Ammo for Browning BAR in 7mm-Rem Mag

I just recently bought a beautiful 1981 BAR in 7mm-Rem mag and wanted to know what people recommended for ammo. I am in Maine and hunt whitetail and hopefully will get my name pulled for the moose lottery (knock on wood).

Are you looking for factory ammo recommendations, or do you reload and are you looking for a bullet recommendation?

most of the guys I know that own a 7mm mag BAR , say the 140-168 grain ammo is the most accurate.
several have mentioned federal and hornady ammo as being their choice

btw about every 200-250 cartridges change out the recoil buffer, and clean the gas system,
its not a big deal but its a big help in retaining accuracy and obviously clean the bore and action after each trip to the range

btw I picked up a BAR in caliber 270 win a few years ago , its one of the most accurate rifles Ive ever handled with 150 grain speer bullets,
54 grains of h4831 and a 215 fed primer
consistently under 1" off a good rest at 100 yards

Awesome! Yeah I’ve wanted one for a long time and this one fell right into my lap at a great price. I appreciate all the info!

I'd buy 3 factory loads, 160, 150, 140, and see which does best.

I'd hope the 160 was the most precise, but they do have some solid 140 and 150 gr bullets nowadays too.
