Default Need tips for shooting short grip handgun

Here's the question. I am going to soon purchase a small ankle gun. The problem is, anything small enough for my ankle to where my stride/gait isn't altered don't fit my hand at all. Some of them, such as the LC9, my 3rd finger is barely hanging on and pinky is floating in the air. Same with the front runner for what I want, the Sig P938 unless I get the extended magazine. Anyone with any tips or tricks for shooting these tiny things? I know something is better than nothing at all, but my opinion is I'd rather have nothing as something I can't shoot worth a crap. I've tried several and can just barely stay on target let alone attempt anything that I would call accuracy.

And adding a magazine extender is out of the question? Not even a smaller one that will give you a good grip for the3rd finger?

Curl the pinky under the grip.

Just wondering what kind of holster you are planning to get. Not sure I could get used to having a piece strapped to my ankle.

The LC9 comes with a finger grip extension. Did the one you handled have this installed? With the extension, it's still pretty short overall and like you, I can barely get third finger on grip.

I wanted a spare magazine and ordered this from Midway:https://www.midwayusa.com/product/83...th-finger-rest

It made the gun fit much me more comfortably. However, it's extremely difficult loading 8, much less 9 rounds.

I'm not pushing this pistol for you. Just wanted to point out a way to make it fit better.

Good luck with your decision.

yeah either curl your finger under or get an extended mag with the finger grip extension.

for smaller caliber guns like a 32 or 380 its really not that big of a deal to just let your finger curl under....there isnt all that much recoil and remember, a small gun like that you are going to be shooting up close and personal probably so whatever accuracy loss there is by not being able to grip it 100% properly i would guess is very small.

i have the sig 938...i can shoot it without the pinky extension but its not ideal, i put the extensions on my mags for that one.

from what i read from your post it sounds like you want to wear the ankle holster on the inside of your ankle. you might want to wear it on the outside of the ankle where it doesnt interfere with your stride while walking. sorry if im reading the post wrong.

Hunter, I carry a Kahr MK 40 most days. The grip is short for me because I have big hands. I really like the power and size of the gun. I purchased 3 extended Kahr magazines, they allow one more cartridge and have a plastic end that protruded from bottom of the grip. It is perfect and is just extended far enough to let my little finger grip it. So far as an ankle holster, When I worked under cover I tried one and I found it extremely uncomfortable, you always knew it was there and as far as running with it on, forget it.
