Default Indentification of old shotgun

Someone is telling me about an old shotgun they have which they
say that it has the markings of "The Elk" on it, note it is not photo
of elk but just the words "The Elk".

Anyone have any idea as to what brand and type of shotgun this may be ?
I have Googled by have not been able to find anything so far.

Correction: They just brought the shotgun to me and it DOES have
a picture of an Elk inscribed between the words "The Elk"

It is a single barrel 12 gauge - has patented marking of 1900 to 1902.

Thanks.

Never mind, found out that it is a W. H. Davenport Firearms.
