Default Kimber quality

Yesterday, I shot my brand new Kimber rifle (7mm-08) with a synthetic stock for the first time and on the very first shot the grip cap flew off.

I called Kimber to see if they recommend anything to reinstall the cap and they said to send the gun back to them.

I suggested before I do that I would try and use loctite glue, and if that failed I wanted a record that I notified them about the problem.

I also document the date and the name of the person I spoke to at Kimber

kimber has been known to have some sporadic quality on their rifles over the years.

Kimber of Oregon was awesome, Kimber of Yonkers New York, not so much. The head smith at Kimber of Oregon went on to start his own company, he is Dan Cooper of Cooper firearms.

A member of our hunting cabin is an NRA certified firearms instructor that qualifies local police and security departments. A couple years ago he had people come in with Kimber 1911s. One kept jamming and another failed to fire right out of the box! Makes one wonder if they are really worth the $$.

update to my fix

Today, I shot a box of rounds through the kimber and the loctite glue held up on the grip cap.
