I am shooting a .270 win and at the range the power point 130 gr. and the 140 gr. interlock both shoot great out of my gun. which is a better bullet for MN whitetail my shots should be somewhere between 50 and 100 yards max. I have already sighted my gun in with both. They both hit the paper in the same spot. So which one should I shoot? Thanks

Is 140 too heavy for deer? I don' t know much about bullet construction. Is the interlock a better more proven design? Thanks I want a bullet that I will be coinfident in. Something I won' t worry about breaking up on impact.

140 is not to heavy and if it shoots well than it should be a perfect fit for your purpose. As far as coming apart the interlock is a good deer bullet and has ring(where it gets the name interlock) that is to prevent seperation of the jacket from the core, of course that is the theory but I will tell you it works very well on deer and you have nothing to worry about. I used the interlock this fall for an elk and WT doe, both animals toppled very quickly and on the deer the bullet blew clean through the ribs. The Elk I found a perfect mushroomed bullet tucked on the opposite hide, while I didn' t achieve a clean pass through the result was very positive(BTW Elk are much tougher skinned so the lack of a pass through was in no way a fault of the bullet, but rather the shot angle and body size it had to travel through)
Coinfidence comes in accuracy and field results. By the sounds of it either bullet is shooting well for you on the range and you should have the confidence given the opportunity you can put it where it needs to be. The field results will only come with time but the important factor is taken care of you know they shoot well and will hit your point of aim...so load what you want and don' t think about anything but making the shot and creating that shot opportunity.

wow, sounds like the interlock is what it suppose to be if it held up to an elk. I am assuming this is in a .270? I guess I will have to stick with that, since it had a slight edge on paper. I have shot this gun 3 different times and so far have all the faith in the world. I will stick with the interlock and hopefully get the opportunity to put it where it counts. Thanks for the help

drh, no actually it was 154 gr out of my 7mm Rem Mag but I have used this offering in my 270 win previously on both Mule' s & WT with similar results. Point is I think it is an excellent bullet with a 270win will get the job nicely on deer & shared some experiences about performance in the field to put your mind at ease about game performance. I can' t comment personally on the Power Points as i have never used them but am sure they would be adequate as well.
Good luck!

Out to about 250 yards the 130 and 150 are nearly idenical. The 140 will fit the bill as well. As a rule both the 130 and 150 will hit the same impacy point and over the years I have seen no difference in the killing power of the two. I would shoot the 130 for everything but elk and moose. For big stuff like that The Barnes X bullet in the heavier weights will do the job PDQ.
