Default Henry " Big Boy"

I wanted to thank everyone for all of the advice on the Husqvarna 30-06. I took the advice and did not buy it. I went to a gun show in Dayton on Saturday and was looking for a " Yellowboy" . Did not find one but I did find a brand new Henry Big Boy in 44Mag. It comes with a certificate that says that the rifle is one of a 1000. They started with 1000 and mine is 1770. As of yet I have not fired the rifle. I had just read an article on this rifle just a few days before. It' s a beautiful rifle. My girlfriend says that I will be afraid to shoot it becasue is looks so good!!! Will be getting some shells for it this week and taking it to Ky this weekend to sight it in and get ready for that big buck that is waiting in Ky for me to show up!!! Again guys thanks for the advice. I think I will be so much more happier with the " Big Boy"

You will have no complaints about that gun whatsoever. My dad has one and it is one of my favorite all time guns to shoot. Lightening quick, good shooter, and after you clean it you can hang it on the wall. Should work really well as whitetaill medicine. Sweet man, now I wanna go work levers and make noise, but I have to go to class![:@]. Nice addition to the collection loghead, thats an awesome gun.

Thanks Bigbore! Now help me with the correct round to use! Having trouble finding a 240gr. Jacketed hollow point. Any other rounds that might work???

I would just check around and see what you can find, run a few different rounds through it and find what it shoots best. For the future, check out this ammo www.garrettcartridges.com This stuff is loaded hot and is pretty fun to shoot. For whitetail deer, most .44 mag cartridges will do the job, just place a nice shot right in the boiler room and you will be set. Also, the .44 mags are very efficient for people who reload to shoot, but if you buy boxes at the store it is pretty costly. So if you can, reload or find someone who reloads and maybe buy them the gear they will need to do it. That is going to be a sweet gun, real looker too. Good luck keep us informed.

I use to reload all my own loads when I shoot silhouette. They were hard cast and really hot! I think I still have some. They were very accurate in my Super blackhawk. I don' t know what they would do to a deer. I don' t reload anymore due to space limitations. I hope to have the room to set up a small area to reload again.

Hard cast loads would work great. Good to hear you might be able to reload soon, then you can shoot that thing damn near anytime you want.

The hard casts will work awesome, that is about all I shoot out of my 45/70, .44mag, and .357. I am a freak for penetration, since the big bore' s have enough diameter to hit anything you need to once inside.

Thanks BigBore. I found some that I had reloaded. I don' t have as many as I thought I did. I also picked up some Remington 240gr jacketed soft points. I will see which ones shoot the best this weekend and go from there. I have plenty of the hard case to reload...If I just had a place to reload!!![]

Loghead. If you don,t have much room, check out that Lee Hand Press. They are cheap and they work real well. I used one for years when I lived in a small aptment. You can keep all the stuff you need to reload in a shoe box. You don' t need a bench or anything. Midway USA has them I think the kit is about 30.00. I reloaded 45-70 and 30-06 with mine.
