Nice buck Jake. I found a nice 30/40 last weekend I think I am going to go back and take
A better look at it this week end. I think its the carbine Have to measure the barrel .I don't know that much about them. Want to check on getting reloading stuff , dies. Etc. |
There is a local gunstore here that has a bunch of custom Mauser 98's that I have been eyeballing. They all have new barrels and really nice wood stocks but still hjave the horrible triggers, but he is asking only $300-$375 for them, at that price a guy could put a Timmney trigger on one and have a really nice gun. Most of the are wildcat or obsolete cartridges though. I have been eyeballing a 358 and a 6.5-06. He also has a 270-08, a 223 improved, and a 257roberts improved. + a few others that I cant remember off hand. I am thinking about buying the 358, it is a Fabrique National built Mauser with the date stamp of 1931 on it. He wants $350 and it has a beautiful nicely figured wood stock.

Wow. I wish I had a dealer that had stuff like that
That 358 is a good pick. |

You should have felt the trigger on my
7.7+58 jap. It had a mile of creep. Then about 200 lbs. Of pull. Took it to the gunsmith to do a trigger job. All the creep is gone and it has about 4 lbs of pull A world of diff. |
