Even with todays inflated powder prices, it costs me less than $22/box of 20 to load my .300 Weatherby with 168 gr TTSX bullets.

It costs me less than $13/box of 20 to load it with 168 gr Hornady BTHP Match bullets.

That's why I hand load. I only bought one box of factory ammo for the Weatherby. That was when I bought it. Basically so I could shoot it right away and to get the brass.

Is factory 7mm Allen Mag even available? Or this that strictly a hand loading proposition?

I've had a 300 Weatherby Magnum since 2000 and bought one box of factory ammo that year. Shortly after, I bought 100 rounds of brass. Now I'm always cruising gun shows to see if I can pick up a few rounds of cheap 300 Wby brass here and there. Just the brass is crazy-expensive now. Factory ammo is around $60-100, depending on what make.

No its a wildcat, I buy 338 Lapua brass, send them to Kirby Allen, he fireforms them, then I load and shoot, think my last 100 brass cost me 2.92 ea ready to load

How does it work? 338 is fire-formed to blow out any taper? Then you neck it down to 7mm? A two step process to form them? Do you have to trim as well?

does Remington still chamber .257 in that CDL-SF? that looked pretty sweet.

correct, the cases are necked to 7mm, then fireformed, blowing out most body taper and changing the shoulder to around 35 degrees, have never trimmed one yet,
a pic, the 3 cartridge/cases on the right are 338 lapua necked to 7mm, formed 7mm AM, loaded 7mm AM

Once you have enough brass, things should get easier. :)

the lapua brass is without a doubt the best there is, the 7 AM barrel is showing signs of age, but running 600 rounds at 110 gr of powder per round through a .284 hole will take its toll, and I'm on my second batch of 100 brass it will still hold 1/2 moa at a grand but its about due for a setback, then a rebarrel in 400 more rounds
