Anyone purchasing a new slug gun before the season, if so what's on your list?

If I hunted where you had to use a slug gun it would be a Tar-Hunt, but nowhere that I hunt requires a shotgun, most states allow a muzzleloader or a handgun during shotgun season.

RidgeRunner, if you ever do purchase a slug gun, save yourself money, no need to spend the cash on a Tar-Hunt, they are made great, but you gain nothing in the accuracy department when compared to a Savage 220 or 212, Browning A-Blot. The Tar-Hunts are designed to shoot Lightfields, great slug but at 100 yds they drop fast. Save yourself the cash for a quality scope. I shot the Tar-Hunt nothing special on the range, also shot a 870 they worked with, same barrel as my 1187, and my 1187 out shot it, using the same ammo.

I am buying a Benelli M2 in a 20 ga because a I want the semi auto and all of the bolt guns I have looked at seem to have "stiff" or "sticky" actions but if Tikka or Sako made a bolt action slug gun with the same action as in their rifles I would be all over that.

as fine as a shotgun the M2 is, for a slug gun they are well over priced, same your money look into a Remington 1187 Deer, I have two in 12 & 20ga and very accurate. I have the Savage 220f my pride and joy, most accurate slug I own, yes the action can be stiff as mine was I lapped the bolt and bolt rails it made a difference granted not as smooth as my SAKO

I like my Remington slugger 870 in 20ga.
You can pin the barrel if you want a stiffer hook up and if you don't like the trigger Timney has a up grade for it.

never go wrong with a 870, and that model 870 is perfect for slugs/scope

I bought an HR Ultra-light single shot 12 ga slug gun with a rifled barrel a few years back. So far it has been more than adequate. Not fancy and not expensive but it is accurate and has tipped over every deer I've shot at with it. I don't see a new one in my immediate future.
