I do agree a 75 yards running gun fight is unlikely my mom and dad spoke to an officer basically said without names of who they were and proof not much they can do. They said should it happen again to call it in so they can stop them at the time it happens. several years ago I had a retired indiana state cop give me some advice and suching while shooting with him. Im confident in my shooting skills. Though I also agree a defence class would prob make me alot better. Part of me thinks their just blown smoke they did this to my mom not me or my dad nothing has happen since. Id think if they had the balls to do what they say they would have come up to me or my dad not targeted the 49 year old woman. But I also believe in being prepared

I think I'd do a little threat assessment, preferably involving the police (if nothing else, to ensure they have the threat on record somewhere). You're probably not going to have a running gunfight in West Memphis at 50-75 yards. I'd be more concerned about a drive-by or a walk-up. A long gun isn't going to be of much use then, and if you haven't done some serious defensive pistol training with a qualified instructor, a sidearm may not help either.
