gun cleaning question...

Default gun cleaning question...

when I clean my shotgun i use hoppies #9 and run patches through till it is compleatly clean, then i run a oil patch through and it comes out nasty and blue colored.... why would this be?

The only time I see blue on a patch is when I use copper fouling removal products.

Blue usually means copper.

Did you shoot turkey loads with it ?

You have a brass cleaning jag on the rod? If so it's the solvent relating against the brass which is actual ya mix of copper and tin, solvent will also react with a bronze brush.

Been a few years since I've used hoppes #9, didn't think it had a copper solvent?

so it is a copper solvent? and i have been using Rem oil but it doesnt leave the film like most oils do... maby thats the problem...

Nice catch Nomercy....I didn't think Hoppes #9 had a copper solvent in it either....the label says "metal solvent"....hmmmmm
