santos, not sure what part of NY your from but if you are close to the Pa. border and ever decide to hunt in Pa you might want to look into a pump shotgun. semis are not legal in Pa for deer.

Nomercy448 has given some great advice. I personally like the Beretta gas driven semi auto's. My 390 has run flawlessly for years. For a pump shotgun, l would not overlook the Browning BPS. IMO, it has a more robust action and better fit/finish than the 870 or Mossberg.

Entry level hunter = entry level gun

Experienced hunter = specialized gun (s)

Go handle a bunch of them to find the one that feels "just" right.

You have all given me some great advice, I reallly appreciate it.

As many suggested since I am a beginner hunter, that I should get a beginner shotgun. That makes a lot of sence. The reason i was thinking about getting the semi-auto was because that was what i have gone skeet shooting with and dove hunting and I did well with it. I did like how it handled as well.

I will do some more research as you all have suggested and let you know what I decide.

Once agin, thank you everyone and can't wait to get more involved in hunting and this forum.
