Do yourself a favor and buy a higher quality rifle (not the Remington Model 710). Good luck.

I have one and I love it! Granted it' s not the highest quality gun made, but it does the job for me. I' m taking mine out to CO to hunt elk next month. I plan on getting a new gun in a bigger caliber for the next trip into elk country, but I' ll keep my 710 to hunt whitetails here in NC.

99silverado if you use the search feature on this sight and typed in remington 710 you would find very few users will recommend it. I have no experience with it but lots here do and i trust there experience. Save a lil more money and get a Savage.

Yea, but most of those who don' t recommend it has never had one, or taken game with it. And most of those on this page take shooting to the next level and it doens' t suit them or me. I bet a average hunter, the gun would last them a lifetime.

I have one in the .06. After tightening the screws for the scope mount and changing to 150g shells, I like it. Like said before it is not the greatest gun but you are not expecting that from a $300 gun. A buddy of my has a savage and is still impressed with the 710. And, it will kill a deer the same as a $1000 gun.

Well, I never had one, but I sold a few (when the customer was adament that is what they wanted). I tried to get them to spend only a few more dollars and get a Howa, but when they wanted the 710, that' s what they got.

I did have a bolt handle break off one when assembling it for display. That was the clincher for me.

i handled one in a shop also....i dont care what anyone says i wont use one.....the bolt was stiffer then heck and the gun would rattle if you shook it.....it was crappy feeling and looked hideous i got about the same amount into a beatiful mauser 98k in 3006 with a leupold varixII 3x9x40 that looks like a weatherby or other high grade rifle and shoots great too....and its one of the best actions ever made no question about it....id look for a good used gun any day before a crappy new one......
