Default XDm9 or SR9

Just wondering what Pro's and Con's you think there are between the XDm9 with 4.5" barrel or the SR9. I'm not really sure which one I like more yet. What are your thoughts?

Proud owner of a XD 9MM tactical 5"

Wish I could have purchased a XDM (CA restrictions).

Did a fair amount of research myself.

Remember they don't call them hand guns for nothing; they have to feel good in YOUR hand !

No doubt. Absolutely critical. The difference in performance between the two will be negligible, so how they fit your hand will really dictate how well you get along with them.

Now, if you're not a handgunner, you may not know what is important for a gun grip, and may not have developed a feel for what a grip should feel like, but neither will be so far off the reservation that you won't get along with it.

I'd personally lean towards the SR9, but then again, I've just never gotten into the XD's (cut my teeth on Glocks), so I may be biased.

Food for thought: The second nicest running pistol I have ever owned is a Ruger P-97 (best was a Ballister Molina 1911 knock-off). My wife hates my XD and my Glock, loves her SR40c, and LOVES "her" Ruger P-97 (used to be mine, until she commandeered it). For a $300 pistol, it's smoother, more reliable feeding, and every bit as accurate as any pistol I have owned. If it weren't so big and ungainly (which they fixed with the SR series pistols), I wouldn't have ever given up on it as a 3 gun sidearm.

Also keep in mind: you're comparing a $400 pistol to a $600-700 pistol. The Ruger has an obvious advantage in "bang for the buck" value. Other than modularity, the Ruger will do everything the XDM does, for 30% less cost. $200-300 will buy a lot of ammo, better holster, spare mags, etc etc.

That's taking nothing away from the XDM. I bought and XDM for my wife, she didn't care for it, now I own it. Great pistol, just spends more time on the shelf than my Glocks or my Rugers.
