Default anyone know anything about eibar shotguns??

I believe thats how it was spelled. Is' an old side by side 12G. My grandfather said he got it of some guy for my father when he was a kid and it was old then. I just would like to know a little more about it. I think its spanish in origin and hand-made but not really sure. I' ve have a few gun shops offer good cash for it (it' s Very used) but no one will tell me much about it. also anyone know about the quality of huglu o/u' s??

http://www.sdeibar.es/index.html

I found this website. They seem to be a Sporting Goods distributor. I found soccer stuff, but I also found a couple of links to Firearms like Norica and Tekniker. So I don' t think they are a manufacturer, but a distributor only. And, unless you read spanish (which I don' t) you' re not going to get alot of info on it. Maybe one of the other members here that can read spanish will help you out by checking out this site.

If they are that eager to pay you some good money for it, I' d definately hang on to it until you find out more about it. It may be worth alot more than they are offering.

When I was stationed in Kirch-Goens, Federal Republic of Germany in the early 1970' s I purchased a nice side by side Eibar in .410 at the local military " Rod and Gun" Club. It was made in Spain, reasonably well finished, and did a decent job on the Trap Range (when I stayed at the closest stations). Unfortunately I do not have any information about your particular shotgun.

You are right in your speculation that it was made in Spain. If I am not mistaken Eibars have been imported, at different times, under different import licenses, and different named companies. (Which does not make it easier to track down the particulars.) I would continue to explore different avenues using different " search engines" on the web....until I tracked down the info.

Good luck with your search!

P.S. Good advice...keep it until you are sure what you have!

Ed is right. The Spanish city of Eibar is the center of the Basque gunmaking trade, and is home to such world-renowned firms as Garbi, Arrieta, AyA, Grulla, Ugartechea and Arrizabalaga. They all produce fine guns that anyone would be proud to own. However, throughout history there have been many conglomerations with various levels of quality operating there. Some produce low-quality guns under generic names to save their reputations; others make great guns bearing different lables. Hard to say what you have. Perhaps you could share the proof marks with us? And a few photos?

As an example of what you can expect from the region, the gun below was hand-made in Eibar by Grulla.

I wish I knew why he wanted it so bad, money was no object(he was a doctor)he died sometime back at 85.
The fellow at work that I gave $40 bucks traded a guiter for it,The fellow that started out with it,it belonged to his dad.He begged me for years to sell it back to him but he drank all the time so I figured he would just get drunk and sell it to someone else so I still have it.
It has EIG-EIBAR-SPAIN ,on top of the right hand barrel.I would like to know what year it was made too,it is still very tight opening and closing.has 410 guage magnum 3 in chamber on the other barrel.barrels measure 26 inches. In case anyone has more info on these guns.
