Default Springfield 1903 (Year 1934)

I have this very old weapon. Springfield 1903 (stamped year 1934) Has some scratches, barrell has been put on a lathe and drilled and tapped for a scope. There was a very old metal scope on it which was removed by a gun smith so I could write down the serial number. It apprised for over 1,200 in the condition that it is currently in. If restored they bring over 4,700 from what I was told from the gun smith. Im looking to get what I can for the weapon. Any questions please let me know.
FFL paperwork must be done buyer and seller responsible for fees.

I have a sporterized 03A3 and I don't think the values your gunsmith quoted you are accurate, especially the $4700 one as usually anything done to an older firearm devalues it.

The rifles value depends on many things..bore wear, muzzle wear, throat erosion, stock condition, does it have any special paperwork as to previous ownership, are all the numbers matching, and the list goes on from there. Market value on a post WW1 1903 Springfield will start at about $200.00 and go up from there if everything is in its favor. Rifles manufactured prior to or during WW1 are of greater quality and value and should bring $400 and up depending on condition and care during the past 90+ years. Who appraised it at the figure you mentioned?
