Default Illinois Gun Law Help

I just have a few question.

1. If i am 18 years of age have a foid card and own my own gun, can i take, someone under the age of 18 with no foid card, shooting?

2. Does the owner have to be with the gun? For example my friend is not 18 but i am can he take his dads gun shooting with me? and his dad knows he is using the gun

No you are not the responsible adult in charge of your friend. He needs his own card or a parent with him. Remember no handguns until you are 21. Go to the ISP website and they have a FOID section with the info. If still unclear call your local district office.

No, you may not. Anyone in possession of a firearm / ammo in Il must have a valid foid card. You must be 21 for a handgun. As far as your friend taking his dad's shotgun, I wouldn't advise it; never allow any person other than yourself to shoot your firearms, unless you are with them.

That's not exactly true. You don't have to have a card if u r under direct control of a card holder. Ie father and son hunting in same blind.

I am under the age of 21, can I apply for a FOID card? Yes. In addition to all other requirements, a person who is under 21 years of age must have the written consent of his or her parent or legal guardian to possess and acquire firearmsand firearm ammunition. Also, heor shemust not have been convicted of a misdemeanorotherthan a trafficoffenseor adjudged delinquent. The parent or legal guardian providing written consent must be eligible to possess a valid FOID card.
I am under the age of 21, do I need a FOID card? Not necessarily. The FOID Act exempts unemancipated minors while in the custody and immediatecontrol of their parent, legal guardian, or other person in loco parentis to the minor as long as their parent, legal guardian, or other person in loco parentis to the minor has a valid FOID card in their possession.
