OK,
Many, many thanks to those responses to my Ruger question. Ruger it is.
Now,
Could I impose on one more survey/opinon?
I already have a short barrel .308 for Whitetail here out East. I want something that will fit the bill for rifle friendly East coast area Whitetail (MD), but also future hunts for Elk and Moose (West and Maine). So, 30-06 or 7 mm Magnum?
Many thanks,
Tom

Both are great cartridges. The 7mm is flatter shooting. You have allot more bullet choice in the 30-06.If I wanted a rifle for out west of the two I would have to go with the 7mmRM.Why not buy one of each LOL..One of my favorite cartridges is the.270 Win.You might consider one for good whitetail medicine.

The .308 you already have will perform well on elk.....Now if you insist on a new gun for elk....I' ll take a .30-06 any day over a 7MM mag.
Many will disagree.....listen to all comments and go from there.

i' ll take the 7mm mag. , it has the reach and power that elk sized game need , and if you hand load there are a great many reloading components available to make a great elk loading
the 06 is good too but , i' de want a little more punch for elk personally
