My father just recently gave me a 44-40 Ruger Vaquero single action revolver that he had won at a Gun Bash a few years back. My question is, what kind of load would be good for this caliber of gun? I will mostly just be using it to shoot at the firing range as well as a side-arm when deer hunting. My other question is, I am having a hard time in finding this certain 44-40 cal. shells, does Cabelas, Gander Mtn. carry these shells. Thank you very much.

Glad we could help you out RF. Do you reload? This would be a good one to reload for. Either way, I think you'll enjoy shooting that, I know I've always liked the .44-40.
