I just finished this fast twisted 243 Win, it's a 1.250" Krieger that's 30 1/2" long. I did bed it 2" in front of the recoil lug to aid in support.

Just curious if you stress the action too much what really happens? Does it develop stress fractures in the receiver itself?

Never mind I did some research. Pretty interesting point I found was to support the barrel just in front of the action for longer heavy barrels. That makes sense letting a portion of the stock take the weight of the barrel and the rest is free floated. They did mention that you could bed the barrel half way down the stock to eliminate vibrations but I don't see a 1.250" dia barrel or larger needing all that. Maybe.

Wow doubleA that's a good looking rig! What bullet you shooting?

It doesn't look like I'll have any trouble with a 30" tube now.

105 Amax and 115 DTAC's at 3150ish fps. It shoots like a dream. Didnt want to mess with anything odd, just a plain simple 243 Win. It's twisted 7.5

Nice! I'm shooting the 105 Bergers out of my Ackley. I have a box of Amax's but haven't loaded them up yet. I did shoot a few DTAC's a friend sent me and they shot good too but I like the Bergers better.
