I can' t help with the mounts, but the Howas I' ve handled appear to be well made rifles. I' ve spoken to a number of people that are very happy with their' s.

I have a Howa in 223 caliber and its as accurate as my remington 270. Im shooting 3/4 inch groups at 100 yards. The gun will do 1/2 inch if i can do my part. I think there a good rifle for the price.

Yes, Remington 700 mounts will work, but, you usually have to turn both of them around. I' ve mounted several and the long rear mount almost always gets in the way of the bolt when it' s lifted. That' s all I had to work with, but if I had something better, or made for it, that' s what I' d go with. We carried mounts for most popular firearms, but none specifically for the Howa.

They are very good rifles. They are basically a Weatherby Vanguard. Howa made the Vanguard for Weatherby before putting their own name on it. The only difference I could see between the two was the shroud on the back of the Weatherby' s bolt.

If you can get it in stainless for $400 jump on it, is the laminate stock or synthetic? I use 50 gr Speer TNT' s or Sierra varminters sitting on top of 27.7 gr of 748 with federal sr match primers, winchester cases. 27.8 is max load. 3250 fps avg 1/2" grps. Out of the 24" tube.
