Looking to replace the stock of my Rem. 870. I' m not a fan of the cheap wood they used.
Is this something I can do by myself, or do I need a gunsmith to do it right?
I' m looking at a Remington replacement stock.
What' s your experience been like using camo tape in the time being?

Simple to do. Remove the butt plate or pad. Usually 2 screws. Then remove the long bolt that attaches the stock to the receiver. Attache the new stock.......... Slide off the forend and replace with the new one.
A composite stock set in black or even camo looks a lot better that tape.
