Who takes a .243 to the deer stand and what's your go to round?

Don't be shy about putting pics of your guns up

Thanks

Only broke it out on antelope so far.... but may in the near future on deer.

but the load is the 85gr TSX Federal,

used 100gr Sierra and 95 ballistic tips on antelope too, the 85gr TSX did the best of the 3 and my limited testing.

I have a Browning A-Bolt 243 that is a tack driver...I use it for whitetail. I use Federal 95 grain Ballistic Tips.

Mt.Man,
I, usually, use the Winchester 100grn. Powerpoint. But my rifle isn't particular to brand when it comes to hunting. Even though my paper target groups will open up some using Remington 100grn., I would still use them for hunting. In my small world, 1 inch groups versus 2 inch groups just does not matter that much while hunting.

My Father and Uncle use .243s for whitetail hunting. My Father uses a Federal 100 gr round, and I don't know what my Uncle uses for ammo.

They kill the big Wisconsin whitetails just as easily as when they used their old 30-06s. Better actually, but that has to do with better ammo available then the caliber being used. They made a switch to a lighter gun and a different round when they went from their old Springfield semi-auto rifles to bolt action rifles.

Yep. I have a sweet 1885 Low Wall in .243. It wears a straight-tubed Leupy FXII in 3X. It's nice.

Thanks guys. It's nice to see that others believe that you don't need a magnum to kill a deer.

Keep them coming and show some pictures of your rigs
