I always strip them down and give a thorough cleaning/oil.The bolts I squeeze the trigger as I close the bolt to relieve the spring.The shotguns I use till spring then clean/snap cap.The RF's go year round.

Centerfire rifles & handguns are okay to dry fire.

Rimfire and shotguns use empty shell (rimfire) and snap caps (shotguns).

thanks for the info guys. With snowmobile season right around the corner the guns will probably sit still spring turkey season or if i get out coyote hunting once or twice this winter.
