Default Savage 212 vs. 220

I have a mossberg 835 with a rifled barrel and I like it it shoots well killed deer I shoot a 12 gauge with a 3" copper solid slugs and it does shoot well. I saw the savage 212 and well I like the idea of having a bolt action gun. I personaly think that bolt guns are more accurate. Here is my question 12 or 20 guage? I have heard that a 20 shoots flatter and is more accurate. Is this true? What are your thoughts about 20 gauge slug vs 12 gauges slug?

If I wanted a bolt 12ga I would more than likely get the Browning Abolt.

I have the 220 savage, in 20ga, I think I need 1 of each honestly, but no reason to go back to a 12ga after having this 20ga.

lighter, more accurate, just plain awesome! so why bother with 12ga?

honestly I can never see shooting past 200yds so why do I need a 12ga? more kick?

260grs @1900fps sounds right to me.

both 12ga and 20ga nowadays are equally flat. 12ga may have a SLIGHT edge.

btw I hated slug guns before this savage 220! hated hated hated! being able to hit a pie plate at 100yds isn't my idea of accurate. This 220 is a rifle, not a shotgun, so nice, all black, beautiful if you ask me, and I finally am excited to breakout the slug gun...

I've always had 12ga semi-autos.

and in all honesty most of my shotgun shots are going to be 30-75yds, maybe 100yds, so the 20 has plenty of juice, and at 150yds I'm very confident, at 200yds I'm quite certain I'd make a clean shot/kill. I was on target at 200yds.

As for the 20 shooting flatter than the 12ga rumors...I think back int he day the 20's were lighter/faster/flatter, nowadays with most 12ga guys shooting lighter bullets, 300gr/385gr bullets at 1900fps or 2000fps...they're as flat as the 20ga 260gr/275gr@1900fps.

No need to use a 12ga, the 20ga is just fine
