Ruger No. 1
Hello everyone,
I have a question for you all.I have just bought a Ruger No 1-b sporter in 25-06 rem.And I wanted to know what kind of grouping I should be looking for is under 1/2MOA@ 100 yds to much to ask of it.
And also I will be shooting 115 BLT- SilverTips by winchester any one shoot them.
Let me hear the Pro and Cons of this rifle.
Thanks BBJ

RE: Ruger No. 1
I don' t know about a 25-06 #1. I traded for a Ruger #1 S/S Laminated stocked " Limited Edition in 45-70.The guy I got it from worked up some loads for it.Before trading I shot three shots@100 yards and had a nice 3/4" group. It was a little low but they were in a tight group.I think you' ll be satisfied with your #1.

WIth some trigger work your groups will shrink, careful handloads will shrink groups as well, with factory ammo and the factory trigger 1/2 inch is a bit hopefull. I am on my second #1 never had any problems with them yet.

RE: Ruger No. 1
Seems like VApodog got bit by a Ruger once or twice..Bareback it is a fine rifle ....the early ones and the later ones are the best shooters I have 2 of them a 45/70 and a 280 the worst the 280 shot with factory ammo was 1 1/2 groups and it has a nasty trigger. The 45/70 shoots beautiful cloverleafs at 100 yards but its trigger is much better than the 1b. If the trigger is good try it out and see how it shoots. Some guys like the hicks accurizer and some freefloat the foreend to get best accuracy. 1/2" groups I am not sure about that but it would be tough with a rifle that costs 4 times as much unless it is a production varmint rifle.

I figured 1/2 moa is a little much,I was just wondering what kind of accuracy I should expect. The rifle is a latter modle cira 1973 it has been in the closet of a widow for 20 yrs.the rifle is in near new cond. 98%.Thanks
I have owned rugers befor and never had any problems wth 1moa.
Any one use the ammo though.I will be using it for deer and antelope here in MT.
