I'm mostly a muzzleloader guy. But recently acquired a .357 Mag 1894c and wanted to see if I got a reasonable deal on it. So I've been doing a little research on this gun.
My son is a auto mechanic. He told me about a customer of his that had a .357 Marlin in his closet for years, new in the box - never been fired, that he wanted to sell. I've always wanted one, so I contacted the guy to check it out. It was indeed new in the box, with original factory grease. After a little negotiating I got it for $450. It seems I did OK.
Here she is.

That is a very nice rifle. And if you intend to use it then you got a fair deal. Not a steal. But a good deal.
The stock does not look factory to me. But that is really not a big deal. And I could be wrong about the stock, but I have never seen a pad on a marlin like that. But I could be wrong. Does the stock have the Malin trademark "eye" on the underside of the stock??
Even if the stock is not original it is still a good deal for a shooter. Good luck with it. Tom.

That's a 1894 Classic, THATS why that wood is so beautiful. (Fancy grade #1 American Black Walnut) They are limited edition $750-$800 rifles new. The "Marlin eye" is just behind the rear sling stud isn't it?
You done FINE,

Yep, the stock is Marlin. If the recoil pad isn't factory, whoever installed it did a superb job. It sure looks factory.
Try as I might I couldn't get my poopy old eyes to work with the factory sights. Thought about a peep. But what the heck, I really wanted a scope.

I really like that DNC one-piece scope mount. Here's a close-up.

Range report? My brother is wanting one of those for a wedding gift and I'd love to see some targets posted
. Actually, I already bought my brother a 1858 Texas New Army for his wedding gift, but need ideas for his 40th birthday. Nice looking rifle!!!

On a different topic, does this one join your "Sinful Sisters?". Or is it not a sin to scope a lever action? I'm a bit thin on the theology here, more well versed on Martin Luther and John Calvin....
