All of which goes to my earlier point. I don' t think it can be questioned that many rifles, like the Springfield, the Winchester 70, the Jap Arisaka, the Enfield Model 1917 (and by extension, the Remington bolt actions), and I would include the Mexican Mauser, are offspring of the Model 98 so to speak. It is my contention they are not true Model 98s.

Just for chuckles.....one of the Mauser Brothers actually worked for Remington Arms for a period of time.....
