I agree with vapodog. The 7mm-08 is about as good as it gets for most North American game, and most of the world' s game under 1,000 lbs.

If you boiled all the great deer calibers down into one gun, it would come out as the 7MM-08!
As others have said though, a 7MM-08 causes Sudden Death Syndrome in whitetail deer, so be careful!

Ive had mine for about 15 years and absoulutly love it, well over 30 deer have met its demise from my 7mm-08. As for the nay sayers of Simmons Scopes, I have several and have never had a problem with any of them.

I own 1 Simmons Scope an ATV. I don' t have any complaints with it. But my deer rifles have Nikon' s or Leupold' s.

i' ve got one in a remington m700 mountain rifle dm , it has low recoil and is available with a great variety of bullet weights and styles but , i' ve never found mine to be all that accurate, even at 100 yards

I think it' s a solution to a problem that didn' t exist. Anything the 7mm-08 can do, the 101 year old 7mm Mauser can do as well or better.

mike , are you speaking to me ??
if so i use a scope , a nikon 3-9 x 40 the mountain rifle never had iron sites , i' m just not happy with this rifle either , the clip constantly makes a rattling noise and has a wiggle to it when touched even loaded.
now i know that this could cause the accuracy problem when chambering but , i' ve ejected a nonfired shell and didn' t see any damage to the casing or bullet.
i was pondering trading her for a new ruger carbine but , i' ve heard that those carbines aren' t very accurate either
