i was actually thinking the same thing. In PA that is a popular caliber because you really dont get a shot over 100. with it being so popular and it being a used gun i think i could get it for a fair price.

If it was me, I'd be looking for either a Remmy 700 ADL or a Marlin XS7 in .243 or 7mm-08.

Consider the Weatherby Vanguard Youth!

My oldest son will be 16 in Oct. and when he turned 10 I bought him a Rem Model 7youth 243 with a 2x8 Nikon Monarch on it. Lastyear I bought my youngest son (10 then) a Weatherby Vanguard youth 243 with another 2x8 Monarch atop it. (I wanted both rifles and optics to last forever so my grandsons can use the same guns their fathers did to kill their 1st deer with!) Remington quit building the model 7 youth like I bought for my oldest son (gray syn stock with a QUALITY matte finish, so right now I'd have to recommend the little Vanguard. The Vanguard also has a spacer that comes with it that allows the gun to "grow" with the user so they can continue to use when they grow into adults. (My youngest sons best bud/neighbor also hunts with us so his dad bought him an exact copy Vanguard and it also performed flawlessly lastyear.)

80grn Barnes VorTx ammo and nary a deer walks that can take the little 243 pushing such pills!!!
